I would know that face anywhere! Then Colonel Joe was the most popular and capable US commander we met in Vietnam. He visited our unit, the small Australian 547 Signal Trroop, in the 1st Aust Task Force base at Nui Dat many times and I had the pleasure of hosting a few of his welcome visits as the then OC of 547. If he is now your Fire Commissioner you have a superb man, the very best. He was, as I recall, made an honorary Aussie too by my soldiers and in that stands alone. Those were hard days but men like Colonel Joe took care of his troops and they appreciated it. Today he is a legend, highly spoken of at our reunions.
